That hot, eh? Wow... I've had fans fail before but I don't know precisely
how hot the machines got (all I know is that they became "crashingly" hot
:-).
Nidec (http://www.nidec.com) makes some fans that have sense and alarm
leads, which *might* work with the new boards. I have often used these on
important systems with a small buzzer connected to the alarm lead of the
fan (with a simple monitor circuit). With a loud enough buzzer this is an
effective warning system.
Comair Rotron also manufacturers smart fans. So does NMB. Hopefully this
will give you something to go while looking for fans.
