Hi,
I am now testing 1.NOVM.4 in one of our machines, the other is running
1.1.4. These machines are Linux 2.0.28, libc 5.4.17, kernel patched to 1024
file descriptors. They receive similar number of connections.
I noticed that the NOVM version of squid uses a lot more fds than the
standard version. The number of fd used in the standard version seldom
exceed 100. For NOVM version, it exceeds 300 quite easily. When I view the
fd usage from cachemgr, there are a lot of "File" entries like these :
108 File Writing /usr/local/squid/cache/01/D1/00011733
109 File Reading /usr/local/squid/cache/03/E7/00011B59
111 File Reading /usr/local/squid/cache3/01/DE/000119A5
112 File Writing /usr/local/squid/cache/08/E2/00011A78
[......]
568 File Writing /usr/local/squid/cache2/0C/DF/000119F5
577 File Writing /usr/local/squid/cache/0E/C5/0001151A
581 File Writing /usr/local/squid/cache/0C/C5/00011514
633 File Writing /usr/local/squid/cache3/0C/DF/000119F6
646 File Writing /usr/local/squid/cache/0D/DF/000119F7
658 File Writing /usr/local/squid/cache2/0D/DF/000119F8
695 File Writing /usr/local/squid/cache/0E/DF/000119FA
Is this normal? Thanks.
Regards,
Ernest Yik
