greetings SQUIDers!
i just want to ask something in regards with this figure:
THE INTERNET
/\
||
+---------+
| proxy-A | parent of proxy-B <-------- international proxy
+---------+
||
+---------+
| proxy-B | parent of proxy-C <-------- national proxy
+---------+
||
+---------+
| proxy-C | <------------------------- client's proxy
+---------+
||
browser <-- pointed @ proxy-C
a browser queries proxy-C for an object, but not found, proxy-C sends a query to
proxy-B since it is his parent. the question is, what will happen if the object
is not found in proxy-B, will:
[1]proxy-B will fetch the object to the source(DIRECT) and cache it, deliver and
cache it to proxy-C, then to the browser?
[2]or send another query to proxy-A and let proxy-A fetch the object DIRECT and
cache it, deliver and cache to proxy-B, then to proxy-C, then to the browser?
anyone like to comment?
TIA!
Leo.
