Subject: logs stop working after rotation

Hi all,
        I put the four logfiles (access.log, cache.log, hierarchy.log,
etc) into my newsyslog.conf file, and after they were rotated, they
stopped being updated. IE, access.log stayed at 0. The ownerships and
permissions were the same. I HUPped squid to see if that would help.
Nothing. Comments, questions, suggestions? Im running 1.0.22 on
FreeBSD2.2.2

You're doing something with syslog? (Or is newsyslog very
different?). The only correct way to rotate squid logs is by using
kill -USR1 `cat /usr/local/squid/log/cache.pid` or wherever you've
defined you squid_pid file. If you just truncate, it does what has
happened to you.
