Use append_domain in squid.conf. If the problem is that the hosts are
not reachable by the parent, only locally, then you will have to use
the cache_host_domain command in squid.conf to prevent the parent
being asked about that domain.

Subject: local hostname only without domain
Prior to installing Squid, I was able to goto http://www/, which
happens
to be my local www server.
Now that I have installed Squid, IF I SETUP PARENT caches then I
cannot
use http://<localhostname>. When I turn off PARENT caches, I can
then
visit my local http hosts.
Is this normal behavior? Is there a way to take advantage of Parents
and still have http://<localhostname> work?
Thanks.
