Too much Swap activity

I found that my problem was with the Swap access, it was too much.

I want to know what Wired memory is, how much normaly is taken and if this
line that show in "top" is ok:

Mem: 1308K Active, 40K Inact, 25M Wired, 2132K Cache, 3590K Buf, 1580K Free

It seems too much for Wired no? How can I make this lower?
