Re: Where can I get Squid for Linux ?

Download the source from
ftp://squid.nlanr.net/Squid/squid-1.1/squid-1.1.18-src.tar.gz
and then excute the following steps:

`tar xzf squid-1.1.18-src.tar.gz`
`cd squid-1.1.18`
`./configure`
`make all`
<take a nap or whatever>
`make install`

Squid by default installs itself under /usr/local/squid/. You will need to
edit the /usr/local/squid/bin/RunCache script so that "" is replaced with
the path to your squid.conf file (normally
/usr/local/squid/etc/squid.conf). Make sure to edit your squid.conf to
reflect your system configuration and your desired squid behaviour. After
that (assuming you have file permissions set correctly, which has been
discussed on this list before), run RunCache and watch squid come to life.

If you're looking for a binary and don't want to attempt to make your own,
I know they are out there but I havn't ever used one. I always make my
own squid since I've always done it that way and I need the ICMP pinging
stuff that is a compile-time option.
