I have had similar problems months ago with other stuff, when I leave
something I shouldn't in my startup scripts, and they come back to haunt
you a year later, the next time your computer restarts...
Did you have a power failure? (UPS failure?) Is your uptime in order? Have
you got anything strange in your crontab?
