Addin a new cache directory

Dear friends,

I'm planning to increase my cache size, by adding a new cache_mem
directory (the previous one can't be increased anymore).
Do I have to run squid -z again?
Is there a way of doing this without loosing the information already
stored?

Any help will be appreciated.
