1.2beta22 question re cache hits

I've run up Squid 1.2beta22 on a "spare" (temporarily) 18Gb proxy in order to
start getting used to the changes expected in an eventual migration from 1.1
to 1.2. After some playing around, I've noticed that I *never* get any
TCP_HITs on the 1.2beta proxy, only TCP_IMS_HITs.

Is this just part of a changed meaning of the access log result codes, or has
something changed dramatically in 1.2beta? Running with no peers or parents,
default refresh settings, Netscape 4.05 through the proxy (log_mime_hdrs gave
no clues).

Nothing major or anything - just hope to better understand 1.2beta's
behaviour...
