I have run into a problem with Squid. It was able to access
http://webpageweaver.penguinpowered.com from my LAN and via an
outside internet connection until some recent changes that I made
with permissions. I am not sure of the change that caused this or the
way to rectify it. I am able to access the Web Server from the LAN
via a local IP Address and an internet address (192.168.0.1 and
207.41.56.84) but not via webpageweaver.penguinpowered.com. The
error returned from the Squid Server is
"The following error was encountered: Connection Failed
The system returned: (113) No route to host
The remote host or network may be down. Please try the request again. "
From the internet I can access it via 207.41.56.84 or
webpageweaver.penguinpowered.com.
Setting Netscape for a direct connection to the internet also
rectifies this; to be expected.
Squid is running as user squid and group squid
Any thoughts from the gurus out there? Thanks.
I did the following
chmod 755 /bin
chmod 750 /boot
chmod 771 /dev
chmod 751 /etc
chmod 755 /home
chmod 751 /lib
chmod 755 /lost*
chmod 755 /mnt
chmod 550 /proc
chmod 700 /root
chmod 751 /sbin
chmod 702 /tmp
chmod -R 751 /usr
chmod 751 /var
ln -s /tmp /trash
chmod 702 /trash
