Why should it? It uses as many as it needs when needed (as long as there
is a dnsserver process available).

Squid 2.2 is known to leak some memory. Duane is working hard at finding
the leaks. At least three patches for known 2.2.STABLE3 memory leaks are
available from the known Squid 2.2 bugs page.
