Actually I don't have the problems to gain access to the proxy (just because
I need a password :-)). My problem is to get via http/1.0 command access to
restricted
areas!
e.g. to get a page via http via a proxy:
GET domain.com/secure/index.html HTTP/1.0
After this command the WEBserver gives an error! (Okay, it's password
protected)
As I read in the RFC I need now to add a
Authorization: Basic (username:password base64 encoded)
And ... But no way! Maybe the webserver hates me!! :-))
Maybe, someone else could help me.
And to you Kendall: the way you get access to the proxy should be nearly the
same
with the different that you have to use the command: Proxy-Authorization:
.......
But I'm new to the subject too! (Otherwise I wouldn't ask so much stupid
questions!!)

Kendall,
Can you probably explain more on how to make users authenticate
themselves to gain access to the proxy server.
Iam kind of new to squid usage.
Thank you
Ted
