Have I overlooked something in the FAQ's? :
I have set up a Web server to function as our Intranet server on an IP address
internal to our network. On the proxy server (Squid/2.3.STABLE1 running on
Redhat 6.2), I have added an entry for the Intranet site to the /etc/hosts file, so
that I can successfully type "ping intranet".
Without creating a "hosts" file on every workstation, I would like all requests to
the proxy server for "http://intranet" to access the internal site.
At the moment, the proxy server relies on 2 name servers outside of our
network, and I would like to not have to set up a local DNS.

using this address or prehaps making it look at /etc/hosts before querying the
DNS servers?
