PDF file downloads freeze with Adobe Acrobat 4.0 with Web Browser
Integration Turned on. The file start to load, but the screen appears blank
and freezes. The problem doesn't occur with PDF files that are less than
20k, but does happen with PDF files that are more than 60k. The problem
occurs when the site is cached or if the site is put marked as 'no_cache'.
The problem does not occur when use of the proxy server is turned off on the
client machine..
It appears that the problem might be occur because of a problem with
byteserving which is the method that Adobe Acrobat uses with Web Browser
Integration. Similar problems have been reported with Adobe Acrobat and
Apache 1.3.14 because of byteserving bugs in Apache. My webhost is not
running Apache server however.
I'm running Squid 2.3.STABLE4 on Linux 2.2.17 (Redhat 7.0 Intel).
Client machines are Windows 95, 98, NT, 2000 with IE 4.0, 5.0, 5.5.
An example URL of the problem:
http://www.equityleague.org/PDF/newsletter/9402.pdf
I've checked Squid's Bugzilla, the 2.3 bugs page, and the mailing lists
archives. Only one reference to a similar problem:
http://list.cineca.it/cgi-bin/wa?A2=ind0002&L=squid&P=R26617
But no solution was posted.
Any suggestions on how to solve or bypass this problem??
