Because when Debian 3.0 was released, 2.4.7 was the latest stable
squid. There is a 2.5.1 package in the 'experimental' distribution,
but you need to run 'unstable' for that because it is compiled
against a glibc that is more recent than that which debian 3.0
was released with.
Or you get the debian source and build a debian package yourself.
