[squid-users] help need to setup authentication in squid

hai all,

        i am trying to setup authentication for proxy server (squid) need to access
net using username and password

now i did the following change in /etc/squid/squid.conf

http_port 3128

auth_param basic program /usr/lib/squid/ncsa_auth /usr/etc/passwd

acl password proxy_auth REQUIRED

acl focuz src 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0

http_access allow focuz password

visible_hostname machine3

after this while i trying to access net through proxy server it need
authentication screen
but while i use username and password it fail to login..

i create username and password with command

htpasswd -mc passwd user1

in /usr/etc/ and i set permission with

chmod 666 /usr/etc/passwd

but still i cant login to net using password ..//

please help me to solve this problem..

i am almost stuck in this position...
