Your best bet would be to download the Source RPM
(http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=squid&submit=Search+...&
system=mandrake&arch=src) and familiarize yourself with RPM building
(http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/twiki/bin/view/Main/RpmHowTo). You won't need
to understand the whole process, but having an overview will likely be
helpful.

Once you have the SRPM installed, edit the .spec file and find where the
options are passed to squid (it should be in the "%configure" section). Be
sure to change the Release version so it doesn't conflict with official
packages. Build the RPM based on the edited spec file, and install the new
RPM. You might have to restart Squid to take advantage of the new Binary
(I'm not sure if the package install does this or not).

Anyone else willing (or able) to volunteer more exact steps?
