I suggest you upgrade to the latest Squid-2.6 release first and see if
the problem persists.

If it doesn't then please grab a copy of tcpdump/wireshark and do some packet dumps
of both your machine connecting directly and via the proxy, and also on
the proxy server itself. It'll be easier to diagnose with a full packet dump with
all the HTTP transaction information.
