Did you comment out the stud_hostel lines? Did you comment out the
corresponding http_access lines?

If not, I've read that you can not have a time like 18:00 - 6:00 that
crosses midnight. You should do something like 18:00-23:59 and
0:00-6:00.

What version of Squid are you using?

Can you post the error messages, please?
