In our case, we are the carrier. Unfortunately browsers for phones are very antiquated and the less you require them to do, the better off you are. In fact, they aren't even full blown browsers ... thus the need for a proxy. The full blown browsers are on "smart phones" and more then 98% of the subscribers do not use them.

Well, if the phone number is available on the phone it could
be injected there if your browser app does this for you. Would that
violate a privacy or security paradigm ? It seems you need to
verify the information with a DB maintained by a carrier who has
assigned the IP and has the customer billing info.
