I hope you will manage to make it work.
There are lots of documentation inside squid realms and also outside of
them.
the first thing is:

there are couple other books and tutorials that actually makes you
understand what you are doing.
try to browse the wiki
http://wiki.squid-cache.org/
and the configuration area.
http://www.squid-cache.org/Doc/config/

We can try to tell you how to change your squid.conf file to make it work..
but We(I) want you to understand it so things will go fine and not wrong
and to prevent the loss while doing a simple task.
