[SQU] No running copy

Hi guys,

I have a problem on a Slackware 7.1 Linux box, which I haven't seen before.
Squid starts 100% and operates 100%, but when I do a squid -k reconfigure,
or squid -k shutdown it says "error no running copy" ??
Squid is running at working, squid.pid is present.
Any ideas ?
I have tried reinstalling but still I get the same error ??
