Thanks for that info.
Once I enter in the PID of squid process into the squid.pid and I do a
squid -k shutdown, it works 100%.
The next time I start Squid it doesn't write it's PID into the squid.pid
file.
The only thing that I can think of is that squid just isn't writing the
cache_effective_user properly, as squid.pid is still owned by root. ?
